I have a seperat account for signing up for any site, then all of the spam goes there, and if there is anything they send me that is important, I forward it to myregular home account.
Or just use the junk mail filters on the email account or tell the account to block the spam mail from coming from whatever place its coming from.
Hope this helps some.

If the spam had nothing to do with the website (like messages that advertised things I'd never be interested in or just junk), I would unsubscribe from it. But if it was about the website (like advertising certain features of the site or special offers from it), I would not mind. I would just delete the messages I wasn't interested in.

I agree with blind-bandit. It's fairly easy to get a hotmail account (sorry, I don't remember whether or not they have a verification system).
Anytime I have a site that I think might send me spam I direct it to that account. If I really like the site and they don't give out my email address, then I subscribe again with my home account.

I just delete the Emails I'm not interested in. I just have one hotmail account for everything at the moment and any spam generally ends up in my Junk Emails folder.
